The Hawker Hunter first flew on 20th July 1951, developed by Hawker Aircraft for the Royal Air Force the jet entered service in 1954. The jet used new swept wing technology enabling the aircraft to break the world air speed record in 1953.

Hawker Typhoon
Designed by Sydney Camm, the Typhoon entered service in 1941 with the intention of replacing the Hurricane, but with various problems its continued service was doubtful. Later in the war the aircraft found its true role when up against the Luftwaffe's FW 190 and when armed with 20mm Hispano auto cannons it became a formidable ground attack aircraft.

Hawker Tempest
The Tempest was to be called the Typhoon II, but entered service in 1944 as the Tempest. The Tempest was mainly used at low-level and for intercepting V-1 Flying Bombs as the aircraft was a superb gun platform. In the latter part of the war the Tempest was very effective at destroying ground targets as well as combat against the Me262, being the fastest single engine propellor aircraft at the time. The Hawker Sea Fury was an evolution of the Tempest.

The last piston engined fighter, and the fastest, to serve with the Royal Navy. The Sea Fury entered service in 1947 and was used during the Korean war and during the attempted invasion of Cuba in 1961. The Sea Fury was powered by the Bristol Centaurus aero engine enabling it to reach speeds of up to 460 mph.

Hawker Aircraft
As Sopwith Aircraft went bankrupt, test pilot Harry Hawker and Tommy Sopwith formed H.G. Hawker Engineering in 1920, becoming Hawker Aircraft Limited in 1933. The company acquired Gloster Aircraft, Armstrong Siddeley and Armstrong Whitworth to become Hawker Siddeley. Avro was eventually included in this group of companies. Today the Hawker brand still exists within the American company Raytheon that produces business jets.

Folland Gnat
The Gnat first flew on 18th July 1955, developed by Folland Aircraft as a light fighter. It entered service with the Royal Air Force in 1959 as a trainer but the type was exported to other countries as a fighter aircraft. The Gnat was used by the RAF Aerobatic Team, finally retiring in 1979. This design is available in four colours with design included on the back of the shirt.

HH Martyn & Co, based in Cheltenham, constructed aircraft during WWI as the Gloucestershire Aircraft Company. The name was simplified to Gloster Aircraft then merged with the Hawker Siddeley Group. Many aircraft were manufactured including the Gladiator, Meteor and the Javelin. This design has a deliberate weathered and aged look.
